Everything was great

Happy Meadows is a wonderful, small (7 sites), somewhat out-of-the-way campground adjacent to the South Platte River. We occupied Site #2, probably the most shaded site, but also a bit hard to back into with our 20' trailer. Needed to get the trailer on the far left so as to have space for the truck on the right (must detach tow vehicle so as to not block access road). There are some rocks demarking the road which limits the maneuverability. Took a bit of jockeying. Other than that, this is a great place to stay, quiet with good access to the river, which peacefully meanders around the border of the campground. Restrooms were clean and largely odor-free. Host site had vehicle occupying but no host around. A small nit is that the 1 1/2 dirt road from the highway was a bit washboarded and aggravating. Otherwise, the place is highly recommended and I'll look forward to returning.

well maintained and clean campground

The location is ideal! We are tent campers. The campground is small and individual spaces are large enough so that it feels like you truly have your own space. The downside is there are not electric hookups for the huge motor homes and trailers. Generators run all night long and it totally destroys the peace and quiet. Can't even hear the nearby river (and we were camped on the rive side of the road) because of the generators of the motor homes. Very disappointing.

I love this spot to camp, my beef with this last visit had to do with the campground host. He was not present for the job, had not filled the tp in the bathrooms, returned to the campsite late at night then left again at 6:30 in the morning. Next he lets his house cat roam the campground during the day while he's gone allowing it to hunt the local chipmunks. If it was a natural predator for the area fine, but to watch a common house cat not on leash roaming the grounds killing a normal spices for the area. Common....

Absolutely beautiful space, well maintained and spacious. We couldn't have asked for better for our company picnic, everyone from 3 to 63 had a great time.

One of our all time favorite spots. The river was beautiful and surroundings peaceful. Only negative was the maintenance of the campsites. There were many weeds growing up under picnic tables and in and around the camping pad, whole area badly needed a mow. Lots of tall thistles all over the campground. Bathrooms were very clean. Water pump not working. Despite all of this, we’d go back in a heartbeat.

Good location if you're going fishing on the S Platte.

No shade except from the camp host. She needs to socialize a bit more. We definitely won’t be staying again.
