What Guests Are Saying
Happy Meadows is a charming and well-maintained campground on the South Platte River, praised for its friendly camp host, Paul, who provides excellent service and local recommendations. Guests appreciate the clean facilities, including immaculate bathrooms, and the serene atmosphere perfect for fishing and tubing. Though some noted traffic noise from the nearby road and occasional mosquitoes, the overall experience is highly positive, making it a favored yearly destination for many.

The campground is ideal. The camp host was not in residence. reservation placards were not current. The toilets were messy but adequate. The park was clean. Closest verizon service about 6 miles away. Its a very quiet and dark location. occasional road traffic but tolerable. Overall, a good stay.

Always clean and quiet. The camp hosts are available for help but do not intrude the experience.

I love Happy Meadows campsites. The host Roger was so very nice and helpful. The sites were so clean and comfortable. It was nice to have a fire and they have firewood there for $8 a bundle. If you have kids to tube, I suggest you start the walk upstream to drop in tubes and get out at the shallow rocky beach turn where many campers are stopped. If you pass that to tube, it gets pretty rough and we had a rescue situation. My 20 yr old got stuck in the middle of the river rapids and it took 30 minutes to retrieve him. It was traumatic for him and the littles to watch. I like the peaceful floating, not the rapids. If you like rapids, then just keep going. eek ;)

We took our family of six, with four kiddos, for 48 hours up to Happy Meadows. We stayed in spot 001. We loved it! We floated the river, met wonderful new campers, ate a lot of s'mores and slept in tents. The kids got dirty, sun-soaked and had a great time. We loved that the campground is small and so we could let our kids run around but still keep an eye on them. The vaulted toilets were fairly clean and did not smell disgusting like a normal outhouse does. We will definitely be back!

This is our favorite place. Over the years it’s become extremely difficult to get a site. Then every time we stay there are camp sites that sit empty for days due to them being reserved, canceled at the last minute, or camper not showing up. It just makes it more difficult for those of us wanting to get these sites and not being able to because those that pick every weekend then cancel the day before.

It rained most of the night but can’t help that. Very quiet and peaceful. Bathrooms need to be cleaned.
