This was our second trip this summer to Springer Gulch. It's a great spot for kids and the fishing at this point in the Canyon is always productive. It was our first experience of having a bear make his way through the campsites and it was a bit terrifying. People had food or trash out and we were awakened at 3:30am (and again at 4:45am) by having him breaking through thin plastic containers of cookies and dried fruit in a nearby site. Remember that a "bear proof" container or locking food/trash in your car is the only way to prevent these kinds of events. We are in the bear's territory and it is important to be respectful for the safety of the bears and campers in adjacent sites. This was the first incident of bears in the canyon this summer and I don't have fears of returning.

Clean sites, beautiful location, well maintained outhouse. Best car camp experience I've had in a long while.
Booked Sunday through Tuesday and felt like I had the fishing in the canyon all to myself.

Nice campground, beautiful surrounding areas. Our campsite was gorgeous, but parking, tent pad and picnic table was on 3 levels. Doable for my party, but might be harder for others. Bathrooms always leave a bit to be desired, the smell horribly of ammonia. BUT... the nearby river, meadows and hills were GORGEOUS. Nice and quiet. Couldn't hear the road from our spot #15, which was relatively near the front of the campground. We had a single deer come near our spot, which was nice to see.

We loved the spacious area for our tents and enjoyed the hiking trails and river in such close proximity. Beautiful and relaxing!

Campground was small and quiet. We stayed at #15 and didn't realize it was on the side of a hill which wasn't bad, but with small kids it was a bit more difficult. The tent pad at #15 didn't fit our large tent so we ended up putting it up on top of the hill. The bathroom in the loop (shared by 12 sites) was filled with flies. The bathroom down by sites 1-3 was much better, but reqired a walk. The fly fishing was amazing so we went to the river everyday we were there.

We really enjoy camping here. Its a pretty small area so there are less campers in one area of the canyon which is really nice. The camp host is great, and things are always well kept!
