What a beautiful spot to spend a few days! The scenery is incredible, and there are some good spots to hike. We enjoyed our time, and the camp host is very friendly. It was about 20 minutes to the Florissant fossil park, 40 minutes to the Colorado Wolf and Wildlife Sanctuary, and 45 minutes to the Garden of the Gods.
One note is that the level spot at site 08 is best for a 2-3 person tent, several other tent only spots seemed to lack a large level area, so double check the pictures and reviews available if you have a larger tent or more than one.

Springer Gulch is great! I hope they install bear-boxes at these sites someday. Great place to camp - even better place to catch trout.

Great time of year. We were there during the week after Labor Day and basically had the campground to ourselves.

Clean, really cool sites tucked into the canyon. had climbing walls nearby, some small hiking trails, the river, nice centralized location for a lot of activities the canyon has to offer. No campground host, they are located at riverside campground, and spillway, so if you need firewood you have to travel to those locations. Bathrooms and sites were being attended to as I pulled in, the sites are built into the sides of a hill, so my site in particular might be hard to fit several tents into as there is not a whole lot of flat, level ground (2 medium sized tents pretty close to each other is all you could fit). if you have a large group, you would definitely want the sites closer to the river (1-3 I think). I absolutely loved staying in this canyon, preferred it over camping at the reservoir I went to the next day.
