Shepherds Rim Campground

A very well run, clean campground. Excellent camp host.

Well kept clean campground. The host, Tim, is friendly and does a great job.

Stayed at site 015 (Shepards Rim) next to host site 014, and hot Tim. He is a valuable and informative part of the campgrounds and does an excellent job. He works hard and covers all the campgrounds.
The fishing in Trappers Lake was good. I released all my fish, mostly native Cutthroat, they were quite large. The scenery around the lake is stunning.
I like this area as it still has a wilderness feel, more than most areas of CO,m. This is waning as encroachment growth occurs all over the state.
The lodge below the lake can provide a meal of desired and I would encourage folks to give them some business as it is a tough go so far up valley, and being isolated the way they are.
It was early fall during my visit (maybe the best time) cool, and with elk bugling .
For those who want an site with a great view: Buck’s CG #005 is the one!

Cleanest camp and the best host! He put motion-activated nightlights in the pit toilet facilities. Nice touch!! Excellent access to local trail system. Host was also very knowledgeable about the area.

Wonderful campsite with amazing views, and super helpful campground host.

We have visited this Campground on numerous occasions, and just love it. The sites are large and the facilities are well maintained. Special shout out to Tim the camp host who is a pure delight: he moved us to a better site than what we had originally booked.

006 is a great site with a fantastic view of the Chinese wall! The way down to the table and tent area is a little steep, but not too bad. The camp host, Tim, was wonderful, and the facilities were very clean.

Site 15 is on the west side of the campground and gets great afternoon light! It's close to the facilities and not unpleasant. It has multiple flat spots for tents and lots of shade, which was nice in the heat but a little chilly in the morning. Tim, the campground host, was wonderful, and the facilities were very clean!

This is our 7th time here and absolutely love it. The campsites are great and everything is exceptionally well maintained thanks to the world class campground host. He was super friendly when we arrived and made our stay great. The remoteness of this place keeps us going back. Trappers lake lodge is a great place for breakfast, dinner, and a nice beer after a day of hiking around. Can’t wait to get back.
