The proximity of the campground to the Flat Tops Wilderness and surrounding view, Trapper's Lake, and the chance to have a wonderful meal at the Lodge was spectacular. Tim was the most kind and helpful campsite manager that added to a wonderful experience for our family.

We reserved 4 sites in the Shepherd's Peak campground in January for a late July-August trip for a multi-family trip. When we arrived we fell in love with the Himes Peak campground and spoke with the camp hosts who allowed us to change our campsites from Shepherd's Rim to Himes Peak. Both of the camp hosts who helped us with our change were very kind to do so (Tim and Ted) and we had a great time at the Himes Peak campground with our camp host Ted! The Himes Peak campsites are at the Big Fish trailhead and a couple hundred yards from the upper White River (Rio Blanco). Mosquitos were mild, afternoon thunderstorms were spectacular and the fishing was fair. Camping was outstanding!

Certainly the most beautiful campsite we’ve had this year!! the Camp Host Jim was exceptional !! The hiking is great even through the burn scar trails are a little narrow, cause they’re mostly developed by horses. We plan to come back in the fall to enjoy the aspens.

Great campground! Tim was an excellent host. The pit toilets were the cleanest I’ve ever seen. Trappers Lake is a special place. Definitely will come back!

We were in one of the most spacious sites, 11. There were 3 tent pads. We were surrounded by trees. The hummingbirds and many more bird species were fun visitors. Tim was a great camp host. The area was serene and beautiful. Lots to explore.
