Appreciated the electricity at the reserved campsites - very appreciated bc my husband had to work.
The pit toilets were gross - so many flies and smelt bad.
Dumpsters were locked by the bathroom so had to hold onto our trash.
Only stayed 1 night instead of 2 bc of the bathrooms.
Bc of the road construction we couldn’t get our family national park sign photo.

This park doesn't get the press it deserves, but the fewer folks means you aren't twenty people deep to see the canyon. Remote enough to experience serious darkness and solitude. Campgrounds are easy with clean grounds and restrooms. Put this trip as the stop along the route for the Million Dollar highway and see that Colorado away from the resorts.

Ranger talk was very interesting and informative.
Road construction and dust just had to deal with it.
Toilets were basic.

Vault toilets were not being cleaned. Road construction, while necessary, was a downer with all the noise.

Black Canyon of the Gunnison was so amazing, beautiful, and relaxing. It is such an overlooked park in the national park system. Everything from the Lower Canyon to the Top of the South Rim is wow inducing. The park rangers at both the visitor center and the ranger talks were engaging and powerful for our family. We learned so much. The campgrounds were well kept despite the limited facilities. TIP- make sure you buy your wood before taking the road up into the park.

Very nice park and helpful staff. Only 2 negatives was that there were too many flies at the camp and grass was overgrown
