We stayed at two of the Arapaho Bay campgrounds: Big Rock (tree covered, furthest East) and Roaring Fork (lakeside, furthest West). Both were great locations for being quiet, surrounded by few people, and launchpads for hiking up from Monarch Lake trailhead or playing in the nearby lakes. We appreciated the shelter of the Big Rock campground (both from sun & afternoon winds). And we see why Roaring Fork is nicknamed "The Hilton". We opted to pay double ($46) for a massive double site there, right on the lake and with trees perfect for hanging hammocks. Someone had left a bunch of giant rocks around the tent pad, which were mysterious and slightly annoying when we arrived. But later, when the afternoon winds turned into tent-tearing gusts, we REALLY appreciated all the boulders and had to use 1/2 inside our tent and 1/2 as outside tie-downs in an attempt not to blow away. Note: if you see big rocks, that's what they're for. V. Necessary -- tie down EVERYTHING in advance.

  • Standard cancellations usually have a $10 cancellation fee. Customers can generally cancel before the check-in date online.

  • Modifications are allowed before the cut-off window, but fees depend on the change. Changing to dates completely outside the original reservation dates may trigger a $10 change fee. Extending or shortening a stay that still includes original dates usually has no change fee, though refunds may depend on timing and facility rules. Switching to the same type of campsite for the same dates usually has no change fee, but price differences are charged or refunded.
  • Early departures may or may not be refunded. At certain facilities, partial refunds may be possible if staff can mark the site available for other visitors. No refund is given for a night if the early departure is requested after that day's check-out time.
