Great place, not sure why the water was shut off during Covid but everything else was open but we still love the area

What a truly beautiful location! From stellar water views, majestic Rocky Mountain peaks, lovely wildlife encounters, pristine Nature trails, gorgeous sunrises and sunsets, epic stargazing and serene peace and quiet, Lake Granby does not disappoint. And they're pet friendly! Because the campground is quite a distance in from the nearest small town of Granby, visitors to Arapaho Bay do need to be mindful to bring all supplies with them needed for their stay. Anything forgotten can be purchased at the grocery stores and hardware stores in town, just before heading to the campsite. Especially the extra parking pass, as visitors need to display 2 on the dash of their vehicle. One for their reservation at Arapaho Bay itself and the other for the National Forest. (True Value in Granby sells the Forestry pass. Its probably best to purchase it there, as sometimes the self serve machine closer to the campground is broken and then you have to turn around and go all of the way back.) There are basic facilities in Arapaho Bay, providing cleaner-than-expected eco-friendly toilets and drinkable water but that's it. Definitely arrive as close to check-in time as possible, to make sure to use the daylight to ones advantage. It becomes pitch black as soon as the sun sets so it'd be best to drive in on the long and windy dirt road, find one's reserved campsite, set up tents, walk around to familiarize oneself with the area, etc., well before 4pm. For those unfamiliar with Colorado mountain weather, definitely pack cold weather clothes and bedding. Temperatures drop quickly after sunset and can easily dip into the 40's overnight, even in August! Everyone we met in the campsite couldn't have been friendlier and the staff who comes by on golf carts every once in a while were very helpful. For stays in the Summer peak season months, be sure to book reservations as far in advance as possible, the sites fill up quickly and often stay that way. Enjoy this true gem!

Arapahoe Bay Campground is one of my favorite camping locations. The views are gorgeous, and access to water is fantastic. The only downside is the lack of tree cover and shade, but once all the trees grow back in, that will be perfect too! Just bring a shade structure if close to the water, and be prepared to collapse it when the wind picks up off the lake.

We really enjoyed our camp trip but would like to get the sites closer to the lake this year.

Had a great time. Host was friendly and sold us firewood. Rather windy on this trip but nothing to be done about that. Neighbor campers were also friendly and offered us some cookies. Gorgeous views and a nice little hike along the coast of the lake.
