First time bringing my family from out of state. We all loved Dowdy Lake and had a wonderful time. Bob, the camp host, made our visit even better with his excellent communication. He is easy going, kind and informative. He made our day when we were able to stay another night in a wonderful camp site.
One thing that the campground could improve on is finding a way to contact reserved sites to verify if the people are coming or not. I’ve been to Dowdy Lake many times and saw several campsites that were “reserved” for days and the campers never came. It’s frustrating for us campers who show up and/or actually cancel if we can’t make it.

Dowdy is beautiful and the campsites are well spaced so you don't feel like you are sharing with strangers. The bathrooms are close enough to most sites that a short walk in the dark is fine. The wall around the lake isn't a complete trail, so it gets weird trying to find a path at one point, but it is still a pretty good path. There are trees all over and most sites have shade. Again it is a beautiful site and I will definitely be going back, as long as I can find a spot 🤓

Very nice campground that is well taken care of. The bathrooms were clean and actually smelled nice for a vault toilet. The lake is also a wonderful lake to enjoy with a kayak or paddleboard where you can explore around large boulders that are in the lake. Saw several small fish jumping in the lake. Also has nice trails around the lake and area. Can see why it's a hard campground to secure a campsite. Will definitely be coming back.

Beautiful campsite (18), vault toilets were very clean, a lovely campground. You can’t choose the other campers around you unfortunately, and those around me had little self-awareness, respect, or control over their crotch goblins. Oh well. Not the campground’s fault.
