Superb site location. We had a great view overlooking the Dunes & mountains. Best bathrooms! They were super clean & smelled nice. Kudos to the gentleman tending to the grounds & bathrooms he was very friendly & helpful w/ my questions. Couldn’t find anywhere to buy firewood, the camp “hosts” were not available & the camp store was not open. No big deal though because we didn’t need a fire. But would recommend trying to buy some in town before you drive in if you need it. Stayed in mid May & bugs were not a problem. Medano creek was flowing pretty good & had a great time!

This was our first time camping and it went really well! It was beautiful and private. The bathrooms were super clean, and there is a store that sells provisions right before you enter the park. They close kind of early (like 4 or 5) but they had everything you might need, and forgot. We would definitely go back.

My first visit to a National Park campground since I was a child so I wasn't sure what to expect. The sites are roomy and generally people were polite and quiet. Bathrooms clean with flush toilets. The kids, however, were annoying. Seems parents just let them run around anywhere screaming, talking loudly and riding their bikes and scooters everywhere without boundaries. Incredibly disrespectful and rude in our opinion. The campground was wonderful but the kids were brats.

Campground was well taken care of and clean. Walking distance to the dunes and fantastic views of Colorado mountains and dunes. Each camp site has a fire pit, picnic table and a bear box(nice if you need it). The campground has a small amphitheater within walking distance that wasn’t active during our stay though probably has activities during the summer. Campground also has a small “store” in a small building which sells ice and such. Sand Dunes National Park Visitor Center is a short drive, tons of info on the dunes and park as well as a Jr Ranger passport stop for the kiddos. We plan to make this a future stop again.
