Great and very friendly camp hosts! That alone would make me come back! Lots of talk about frequent bear activity during the nights (woke up to the sound of the dumpsters clanking one night). It seems to be expected in the area so come prepared with blankets/window covers so the bear don’t see into your cars!
The campground was great and location was the best part! Right off of the start of the million dollar highway and up onto the mountainside with a viewpoint of ouray!

A wonderful campground perched high above Ouray! We had great camp hosts who dilegently took care of everything
My only complaint is that the bathrooms near our site really stunk!

There need to be bear boxes. The campground is visited every night. Beautiful location. Major trails leave right from the campground. The hike to the "Scenic Overlook", which takes you up to the natural amphitheater the campground is named for, is low-moderate and a must.

Nice to get out of the heat for a bit. Very helpful hosts. The sites tend to be somewhat tight for even small RVs as the campground was built in the 50s when everyone tent camped.

We had a nice time enjoying the areas surrounding Ouray. It was a hot summer but fortunately at site 8 we had some good shade. We weren’t aware that we shared a parking area with site 9. This didn’t give us the privacy we were looking for. The other issue with our site is that you had the wafting smell of the bathroom, not very pleasant. I looked at all the other sites and really didn’t see a better one. They are close to one another. This is the price you pay for the great location of this campground.
The host was diligent and welcoming and the inside of the bathrooms were kept clean.
