What Guests Are Saying
Amphitheater Campground is highly praised for its stunning views, cleanliness, and friendly, helpful camp hosts who enhance the overall experience. While the campground features tight roads and small sites, making it less suitable for larger RVs, it is ideal for tents and smaller trailers. Some guests noted the need for bear boxes and improvements to the pit toilets, but many expressed their eagerness to return due to the beautiful setting and access to hiking trails.

Nice campground with very pit toilets. Road in campground is extremely narrow and has sharp curves. It’s not for large motor homes or trailers. Sites not very level. Steve and Dave were excellent hosts.

This campground is always clean, outhouses are clean, the sites are always nicely groomed when we arrive, the area and views are stunning! The thing that makes it really great is the camp hosts, Steve and Lori Jonker and Dave and Nancy!! They are so friendly and super helpful all the time! Give them a raise!

Site 23 is right in the middle of the campground but still felt private, and very quiet. There are great views and hiking from the campground. Highly recommend Amphitheater Campground/ site 23 if you're in Ouray & looking to be close to the Million Dollar Highway. Our group can't wait to return.

Site 11 has fantastic views and good shade. Very limited camping areas in Ouray so it’s a challenge to book this campground. Beautiful area. The downside is the stench from the dilapidated vault toilets. They really should replace them.

This was a nice and peaceful campground, we had a great experience. The camp host was super friendly and helpful and the bathrooms were clean and smelled good.

The camp ground host was exceptional. He helped us get a space after our reservation space ended. After a very heavy rain he was on the road hand shoveling mud off the roadway. It was a pleasure to interact with him.

Love the park and location but site 16 had terrible sewage smell the entire time we were there. It is not even that close to the latrines.

Fix the smell from the bathroom. Campers have been complaining about this now for years and you do nothing. $38.00 per night should not include free poop smell.
