What Guests Are Saying
Amphitheater Campground is highly praised for its stunning views, cleanliness, and friendly, helpful camp hosts who enhance the overall experience. While the campground features tight roads and small sites, making it less suitable for larger RVs, it is ideal for tents and smaller trailers. Some guests noted the need for bear boxes and improvements to the pit toilets, but many expressed their eagerness to return due to the beautiful setting and access to hiking trails.

We reserved site 23 on a whim. It turned out to be not only the last site available but the best one in the campground. With nearly 360-degree views, including Ouray below and the San Juans above, it is one of the best places we’ve camped - period. The camp host was awesome, too. Can’t wait to come back.

This was one of our favorite camping experiences! The sites are beautiful- you can’t get a bad one! The views are spectacular. The rangers are friendly and helpful. There are bears in the area so plan accordingly.

Amazing hosts and tons of camping opportunities right from the campground. Loved being close to town, million dollar highway, and off roading.

Clean sites with great views of the mountains. Conveniently close to town for supplies or eating dinner in town. The campground was quiet as we went to bed early and the campground was full that night. The host was great, he came to our site to welcome us and checked to see if we needed anything. He was helpful and knowledgeable about the area and was easy to talk to and you could tell he enjoyed what he did and enjoyed talking to the guest. Bathrooms were clean and water was easily accessible.

Awesome campsite, probably the best one in the whole campground. Camp hosts were great as well.

The camp ground was awesome with really spectacular views of the whole valley. The only minor issue was the whiff of the bathrooms when the wind blew in the wrong direction. That definitely was not a deal breaker and we would absolutely recommend the campground!

What a beautiful location! Absolutely stunning and close proximity to some great trails as well. The upper falls trail was really fun.

Nice campground, but limited spaces where a RV over 24 foot can park.

Well kept. Friendly hosts. Clean bathrooms. Spots are close but trees provide privacy. Quiet at night. Great views. Close to town and hiking trails .
