What Guests Are Saying
Amphitheater Campground is highly praised for its stunning views, cleanliness, and friendly, helpful camp hosts who enhance the overall experience. While the campground features tight roads and small sites, making it less suitable for larger RVs, it is ideal for tents and smaller trailers. Some guests noted the need for bear boxes and improvements to the pit toilets, but many expressed their eagerness to return due to the beautiful setting and access to hiking trails.

Great little campground 10 minutes from Ouray straight up the mountain. Hosts were great. Bathrooms clean. No noise at night. But this isn't for large rigs. Roads are very narrow. I was in campsite #11 and it was fantastic. Website says "tent only" but I had my small tearbox trailer in the driveway - was perfect. Beautiful view, bathroom nearby w/ potable water faucet - and was at the end of a "cul de sac" - quiet - no traffic. Magpies are aggressively loud in the morning - lol. You've been warned.

Site 14 has the most incredible view of about any campsite/campground I've been! This is a great smallish campground near Ouray, hiking trails, the Million Dollar Highway, etc. We had deer wandering through the loop on two evenings. The host was great and let us know that a bear had been seen recently in the area. While the pit toilet in our loop was kept physically clean (cleaned twice a day), it was very "pungent."

No bear boxes. Very hot in the morning. Great location otherwise.

Amazing campground, close to Ouray but also can just stay up in the campground and walk to trailheads without driving. Camp host is really nice. Loved our campsite, felt very private. Tent pad is up some stairs from the fire / picnic table area.
