What Guests Are Saying
Amphitheater Campground is highly praised for its stunning views, cleanliness, and friendly, helpful camp hosts who enhance the overall experience. While the campground features tight roads and small sites, making it less suitable for larger RVs, it is ideal for tents and smaller trailers. Some guests noted the need for bear boxes and improvements to the pit toilets, but many expressed their eagerness to return due to the beautiful setting and access to hiking trails.

This campground is a hidden gem. It’s beautiful and quiet, but still close to town. It’s clean and very well maintained.

The hosts: Steve, Lori, David and Nancy are the best we’ve come across on our 5 weeks trip. Be sure to do the Ouray loop trail but be prepared it’s a workout.

Non view site except up mountainside. Friendly staff. Great location to town. Potty closest to site was absolutely rank by the time we left, maybe from someone leaving lid open overnight or needs to be pumped out.

Beautiful campground that feels secluded while still only being about a 7 minute drive to town. They have an overlook area of Ouray that is beautiful. Sunrises and sunsets from the sites are also very pretty. Sites are well maintained with sturdy and nice picnic tables. Toilets were non-flushing but smelled good and were cleaned 2x a day so were always clean. Would highly recommend camping here and will plan to return.

It is so easy to get from the campground to town or onto the perimeter trail with just a little effort. Steve and the other hosts are awesome.

This was such a great campsite. The hosts were wonderful! The views were amazing! On a clear night, the Milky Way was visible.

Camping at the Ouray Amphitheater Campground is always a great experience! It is my favorite campground in the U.S.
