We had a very gratifying stay while at the Amphitheater campground. The views are so magnificent and the camping spaces are not on top of each other like other campgrounds that we have stayed at. The restroom facilities were well kept, and there was plenty of water faucets available. I can't say enough about the camp host. He was very pleasant and when we let him know our vehicle wasn't working right he let us know where we could get help with repair, and also followed up to ensure we were okay.
Overall satisfaction with this stay was excellent.

The Amphitheater campground, Ouray Colorado was created many years ago.This is a very rugged campground.Only pit toilets and not too many at that. It has very limited space for an rv or trailer. And can only accommodate a few very small ones at that! The so called handicap sites are very dangerous for the mobility challenged.
There is a bear problem that has been neglected by the DOW.The dumpsters are not strong bear proof ones and frequently become overfilled...which leads to trash & bear problems!
This campground is not for the inexperienced camper.

The campsite was a mess. Weeds everywhere. The fire pit was completely filled to the top. Won’t go back.

LOVED this campsite. The hosts were so friendly as were the other campers. It truly felt like a little green oasis up just above Ouray with beautiful sunsets at night. Thank you to the hosts!

Loved it here. Vault toilets were a new experience... did NOT enjoy that but you can’t blame them for other people stinking it up. It was kept clean and staff were kind
