This is a very minimalist campground. No trash cans, no bear proof food bins, pit toilets. The toilets were clean but some odor was present. This is a pack in/pack out area. A bear visited at night and rummaged through something left out by nearby campers. Very scary! The road in is narrow and winding. Not good for large RVs.

The camp hosts, David and Nancy, were stellar. Not only were they very sweet and informative, they raked and groomed each sure when new campers were expected. I can’t wait to stay again.

Amazing views and beautiful campground. We had site 15, which doesn't have much shade in the table area, but the 360-degree views are probably the best in this GC. Many other sites have great views also. It's very close to Ouray, but still has a remove feel. Best to have a reservation in the summer. I recommend you study the GC map before choosing your site. A few sites are on the road, just outside the main part of the GC, and some have the table area up or down a little hill from where you would park. Bears come in at night looking for food, so you must lock your food up at night. I'm surprised this GC doesn't have bear lock boxes like many in bear country do. Bathrooms were clean, and the Host's are very friendly.

Great and very friendly camp hosts! That alone would make me come back! Lots of talk about frequent bear activity during the nights (woke up to the sound of the dumpsters clanking one night). It seems to be expected in the area so come prepared with blankets/window covers so the bear don’t see into your cars!
The campground was great and location was the best part! Right off of the start of the million dollar highway and up onto the mountainside with a viewpoint of ouray!

A wonderful campground perched high above Ouray! We had great camp hosts who dilegently took care of everything
My only complaint is that the bathrooms near our site really stunk!

From Ouray, travel approximately 2 mi south on Highway 550. Watch for the campground sign and turnoff road to the left.

The campground is accessible via Highway 550, located approximately 2 miles north of the campground.

General
- Standard Single Family sites: Recreation Use Fee allows ONE camping unit ONLY.
- Extra Vehicles: Cannot be paid for in advance - upon arrival coordinate with the host for payment and where to park.
- campers are not considered a "no-show" until 24 hours after arrival date check in time. Our policy is that your site will not be released before that.
- FIRST COME FIRST SERVE sites must be booked in person. DO NOT call to determine availability, as they are only available on-site.
- Don't Move Firewood: Prevent the spread of tree-killing organisms by obtaining firewood at or near your destination and burning it on-site. For more information visit dontmovefirewood.org.
