Nice and clean. Quiet. Road in is extremely rough with steep grades in loose dirt and big pot holes. I f you drive very slow you can do it.

Very beautiful campground! Toilets were clean, the site was nice. My only complaint is noise. Loud music from people paddling on the lake, generators running until night. I’ve been searching for a place to tent camp near water that is peaceful. Visually, it’s gorgeous, but I also really look forward to being in nature to get away from the sounds of machines and other people’s music.

The area was clean and lake beautiful. Enjoyed our stay. Only complaint was noisy generators of motor homes disturbed the peace and became annoying. Probably would choose a quieter campground next time.

First, we loved the area. Beautiful; however when we arrived our name was not on any posts. Campground host was away. We managed to find someone named Sheila that told us to take site 25 but we had a tent only. The people in 22 had their name on both sites. They graciously told us to use the tent pad at their site, which we did. We used site 25 for our car and cooking site and used 22 for sleeping. Annoying to say the least. Luckily there were some amazingly gracious and helpful campers and the gorgeous scenery which saved the day. But I would have like the campground hosts when they did return to come check on us, which they did not. First time this has happened in all our camping experiences and we are just grateful for such friendly campers who made it seem ok.

From Salida, Colorado: Travel west on Highway 50 to Poncha Springs. Turn south on Hwy 285 and travel for 5 miles. Turn right onto County Road 200 and continue for 2.3 miles. Turn west on County Road 202 and proceed 2.5 miles.

If reservations are not available, some campsites are first come-first served, also called "Walk-up" sites. First-come, first-served sites must be occupied the SAME NIGHT they are paid for. These sites usually fill Friday evenings and through the weekends. Due to the remote nature of campgrounds, calling to check availability prior to arrival is not possible. |

Campers who are unable to find a campsite at this facility may disperse, primitive camp in the area near Poncha Creek, Silver Creek and off the Marshal Pass road. Practice leave-no-trace (www.lnt.org) camping principles when dispersed camping. |
