O'Haver Lake offers a beautiful and peaceful camping experience with well-maintained sites and friendly, attentive hosts. The fishing is excellent, and the scenic views make it a lovely destination. However, access roads are rough, and some campers noted issues with noise and close site spacing during busy times.

Perfect location to camp and fish. The fish were everywhere, and the lake was clear. We did not feel crowded at all. We had a wonderful time. It was one of our favorite sites. We will definitely consider visiting again!

Great and friendly Hosts. Fishing was great. Thanks for keeping it well stocked. Trail Life student caught his first fish and learned to fly fish.

This would be a 5 star rating for the campground itself, however our experience was horrible. This is a beautiful quaint place with a lovely lake, jumping fish, and mountain peaks. Bathrooms are clean and sites are lovely. The camp hosts were friendly and attentive until they were really needed.
The group next to us in a site meant for a small group had over 25 people coming and going and partying for two days. The hosts initially asked if they were bothering us, this during the afternoon, and we were fine with the birthday party that was happening at that point. However as it went on until 2 in the morning for two days running, with foul language, dogs running off leash, even coming over and shoving our dogs away from their own food, the hosts never intervened. So while a wonderful place, if locals are allowed to run amok, not worth the drive in.

I was looking forward to my visit at this beauty site, but the "hosts" were incredibly hostile from the moment I arrived. Before even asking if I needed assistance, they began yelling at me regarding where my truck was parked and aggressively stated that they "had my information ". The situation escalated as they subjected me to constant, harassing drive-bys and stares. This completely ruined the experience before it even began, and I chose to leave immediately. What a way to treat paying guests.

Beautiful lake and nice campsites. Camp hosts are thr best! Nice easy hike around lake and excellent fishing.

Beutifull Lake and camp setting. Campsites are big and spread out , campground hosts were excellent and pleasent to interact with.

Though notified before arrival of the water problem, this is a recurring problem at O'Haver and no part of our fee was credited. Work on the water supply over the off season.

Getting There
From Salida, Colorado: Travel west on Highway 50 to Poncha Springs. Turn south on Hwy 285 and travel for 5 mi. Turn right onto County Road 200 and continue for 2.3 mi. Turn west on County Road 202 and proceed 2.5 mi.
Policies & Rules
General
- The water system is closed at this campground. No water available. Please bring all water necessary for the duration of your stay.If you are coming with an RV or Travel trailer, please make sure that your water tank is full of fresh water. Thank you for your cooperation.
- Double sites are not eligible for Senior or Access Pass discounts, this includes sites 11 and 12.
- Access road to campground has sharp curves; drive with caution
- This is a high elevation facility, please use caution when traveling from lower elevations. Thunderstorms are common; take extra precautions for lightning
- Be bear aware; keep all food and other attractants out of sight in approved containers or locked inside your vehicle when not in use.
- Maximum 8 persons per site: (2) tents (must be on tent pad or parking pad) and (2) vehicles or (1) RV and (1) vehicle per site is included in the camping fee. Vehicles must fit on parking spur. Parking is limited; a $10.00 fee will be charged for extra vehicles.
- No firearms or fireworks
- No RV hookups are available. No dumping wastewater.

- Don't Move Firewood: Prevent the spread of tree-killing organisms by obtaining firewood at or near your destination and burning it on-site. For more information visit dontmovefirewood.org.
- Non-motorized watercraft only. Please be courteous to those who are fishing.
- If reservations are not available, some campsites are first come-first served, also called "Walk-up" sites. First-come, first-served sites must be occupied the SAME NIGHT they are paid for. These sites usually fill Friday evenings and through the weekends. Due to the remote nature of campgrounds, calling to check availability prior to arrival is not possible.
- Campers who are unable to find a campsite at this facility may disperse, primitive camp in the area near Poncha Creek, Silver Creek and off the Marshal Pass road. Practice leave-no-trace (www.lnt.org) camping principles when dispersed camping.
- Dogs must be LEASHED and CLEANUP after your pet. Do not leave dogs unattended in vehicles, RV’s or tents.
- Firewood is available for sale at host site for $10.00/bundle.
