O'Haver Lake offers a beautiful and peaceful camping experience with well-maintained sites and friendly, attentive hosts. The fishing is excellent, and the scenic views make it a lovely destination. However, access roads are rough, and some campers noted issues with noise and close site spacing during busy times.

This campground is VERY popular and surrounds a lake that gets a lot of day use traffic. The campsite itself was great - direct lake access which is super nice if you have your own canoe/kayak/non-motorized boat and had a spot that would make getting on the water pretty easy. The tent pad was flat and well maintained and we had plenty of space on the driveway to access our cars.
When I reserved, I knew the restroom would be a bit of a walk, but it was actually further than I anticipated from the sites. They get heavy use - the one in the center of the campground had quite an odor and we didn't even attempt using it. We ended up driving to the restroom further down the lake shore from our site, just because there had been rain and the road was a bit muddy with puddles.
All that said, we plan to come back next year!

Hosts are great. The scenery is beautiful. HOWEVER, they allow generators. And campers run their generators ALL DAY. It’s just a crime one has to listen to a lawn mower engine the whole time they are sitting by a beautiful mountain lake. Otherwise, great experience.

Absolutely beautiful location. Everyone near me was so kind and I cannot wait to reserve this spot again!! Will advise being careful with swimming in the lake as me and my friend got a bit of a wormy surprise on our feet but other than that everything went beautifully.

With over 45 days of USFS campground trailering in multiple campgrounds so far this year, and many stays in other years, I regret to report the dirtiest vault toilet facilities ever experienced. There was no enforcement of mandatory quiet hours, and multiple sites ran generators all night long. The campground hosts should be replaced. Sites are very closely spaced. There is heavy day use. The lake is small but well stocked and picturesque. The campground is close to some nice trails and provides easy access to Marshall Pass.

Getting There
From Salida, Colorado: Travel west on Highway 50 to Poncha Springs. Turn south on Hwy 285 and travel for 5 mi. Turn right onto County Road 200 and continue for 2.3 mi. Turn west on County Road 202 and proceed 2.5 mi.
Policies & Rules
General
- The water system is closed at this campground. No water available. Please bring all water necessary for the duration of your stay.If you are coming with an RV or Travel trailer, please make sure that your water tank is full of fresh water. Thank you for your cooperation.
- Double sites are not eligible for Senior or Access Pass discounts, this includes sites 11 and 12.
- Access road to campground has sharp curves; drive with caution
- This is a high elevation facility, please use caution when traveling from lower elevations. Thunderstorms are common; take extra precautions for lightning
- Be bear aware; keep all food and other attractants out of sight in approved containers or locked inside your vehicle when not in use.
- Maximum 8 persons per site: (2) tents (must be on tent pad or parking pad) and (2) vehicles or (1) RV and (1) vehicle per site is included in the camping fee. Vehicles must fit on parking spur. Parking is limited; a $10.00 fee will be charged for extra vehicles.
- No firearms or fireworks
- No RV hookups are available. No dumping wastewater.

- Don't Move Firewood: Prevent the spread of tree-killing organisms by obtaining firewood at or near your destination and burning it on-site. For more information visit dontmovefirewood.org.
- Non-motorized watercraft only. Please be courteous to those who are fishing.
- If reservations are not available, some campsites are first come-first served, also called "Walk-up" sites. First-come, first-served sites must be occupied the SAME NIGHT they are paid for. These sites usually fill Friday evenings and through the weekends. Due to the remote nature of campgrounds, calling to check availability prior to arrival is not possible.
- Campers who are unable to find a campsite at this facility may disperse, primitive camp in the area near Poncha Creek, Silver Creek and off the Marshal Pass road. Practice leave-no-trace (www.lnt.org) camping principles when dispersed camping.
- Dogs must be LEASHED and CLEANUP after your pet. Do not leave dogs unattended in vehicles, RV’s or tents.
- Firewood is available for sale at host site for $10.00/bundle.
