We loved how secluded each site was in our loop, the trees were amazing for shade and privacy. Bathrooms were clean and we had great space and a beautiful view. It’s one of our new favorites!

The experience camping at Heaton Bay is always enjoyable for us. This campground is located within a stone's throw from the tourist towns of Dillon, Silverthorne and Frisco, Colorado. The campground sits along the north shore of the Dillon Reservoir which provides excellent opportunities to fish, paddle and sail. With the proximity of the towns and the popular reservoir, this is not an isolated, primitive camping experience. Just know that you will hear some noise from the towns and traffic; and you will also see and hear other outdoor recreation enthusiasts. We enjoy this campground and the proximity of local services as a 'change up' after some more isolated camping venues.
Loop C is the only loop in the campground with water and electricity hookups at each campsite. All remaining loops have no electricity and shared water spigots throughout the campground area. Both ATT and Verizon cell service are very strong throughout the Heaton Bay Campground. Vault toilets were clean and well stocked during out 10-day stay. The camp hosts truly do an excellent job keeping up with the cleanliness of the facilities. Our campsite offered a level camping pad along with a fire ring, picnic table and lantern hook.
There are no showers or dump station at Heaton Bay Campground, however there is a municipal dump station a few miles away where you can dump for $5 per visit. The GPS Coordinates of the municipal dump station are: 39.5666, -106.0524.
The local towns all offer restaurants, grocery stores, gas & diesel and coin-operated laundry service.
