About Lowry Campground

At an elevation of 9,320 feet, Lowry Campground is located between Summit Cove and Breckenridge, Colorado in the White River National Forest. This campground is in close proximity to Dillon Reservoir and a handful of trails, making it an ideal setting for guests seeking recreation and relaxation. Due to the pine beetle infestation and removal of hazard trees, there is little or no shade in the campground.

Lowry Campground offers beautiful views and a peaceful atmosphere, making it a great spot for outdoor activities and close proximity to shopping and hiking. The campground was overgrown and messy. Water was shut off but it wasn’t listed as so when we made our reservation and we didn’t get notified about that before. They say there is a dump station a few minutes away, but the road was closed so it took 20 minutes each way to get there. They tried to charge us $9/day for the car we towed in behind our RV. The camp host was extremely rude about it. Will never come back to this campground. Horrible experience.

2

Pretty mediocre campground and all water was shut off, which is part of what we pay for so a pretty expensive campground to have no amenities. No shade. Had to pay for more than one vehicle even though there was plenty of room for both of our cars in our site. Went to the campground host, Josef, to ask a question and they were not there and had a total mess with trash all over their site, receipts and papers strewn everywhere.

We were disappointed in how close together the camp site are and that there are additional $9 per vehicle cost which was not advertised on the reservation site. We had a couple of friends join us, so that added an additional $18/night that we had not expected. The views were great and it was quiet, but I don't think I will be a return visitor.

Good electrical connection, good close restrooms, no shade and a lot of dust. Site was level and Lowry is close to shopping. A little inconvenient since Swan Mtn road was closed.

Had a great time. Camp host was very accommodating ( we were only going to stay 4 nights but were having fun and decided to stay another night but our spot was not available. But the camp host was able to move us a day early to different campsite.) and were able to extend our stay. Bike paths were near as well as ATV trails. Clean and quiet stay! Verizon cell service is a 👍's up.

Lowry campground needs to be shut down for a period of time and remodeled. Then it would get 5 stars.

Small campground, fairly easy to maneuver into our spot with 24' travel trailer. Witnessed another camper moving to another site due to entry into first site not being maneuverable. Wild area with natural flora, bear box and very old slightly useable table. Very heavy traffic to and from park location. No warning to not drive over the dam to get to the dump. Pass directly to South was closed. Ok for one night stop.

General

  • Please Note: One RV with tow per single site or one vehicle per tent site. Most sites can accommodate 1 extra vehicle that is not included with the reservation fee. Extra vehicle will be charged a per night fee and collected at the campground.
  • Body contact with Dillon Reservoir prohibited, including swimming, water skiing, jetskiing and scuba diving
  • All food, beverages, trash and scented items must be properly stored when not attended. Bear-proof food lockers are provided at each site and bear-proof trash receptacles are provided at the campground.
  • Prevent the spread of invasive species by inspecting and cleaning packs, equipment, and tires before using lake or trails
  • In accordance with standard industry practices, there will be an additional vehicle fee per day on the second vehicle in each single family campsite, and on the third and fourth vehicles in any double family campsite, provided these vehicles are not joined to the first vehicle by a hitch and towed onto the site. In the case of motorcycles, the first two are considered as one vehicle for determining additional vehicle fees. The third and fourth motorcycle would also be considered as one vehicle. No additional vehicle fees are collected for bicycles.
  • Reserved Sites will be held until the day following your arrival date. Sites must be occupied by the checkout time of that following day to hold a reservation or the site will be forfeited and released to other guests.Once your reservation start date has begun, neither the Recreation.gov Contact Center nor the campground manager will be able to modify your reservation.
  • Fire Restrictions: Fire restrictions may be imposed at any time due to hot, dry weather conditions, at which time campfires and charcoal fires may not be allowed.
  • Don't Move Firewood: Prevent the spread of tree-killing organisms by obtaining firewood at or near your destination and burning it on-site. For more information visit dontmovefirewood.org.
  • Any accepted senior passes must be entered for the discount at the time of booking for single sites only.
  • Click here for more information about White River National Forest
  • Campers must occupy the site the first night at a campsite. This prevents booking the site for Fri-Sun and showing up on Saturday.
  • Campers may leave the site for 24 hours and must occupy the site otherwise. This allows a camper to say go for an overnight backpack trip in the woods for one night and come back to their campsite the next day.
  • It is imperative that you are clear from the site on your check out day so the host can come prepare the site for the next event. Please don't be the group that makes the incoming group have to wait.
