Campground neat and clean. Enjoyed visit and look forward to next visit. Host did not come and introduce himself. Sure do miss previous host, Steve Scarlotta.

Unfortunately, our experience wasn't the best. If you camp in a camper this campground is ideal with well placed bathrooms and utilities. Unfortunately my son and I are hammock and tent campers, and between the other campers filling their water at the spigot across from our site at 2300 and the wind gusts coming off the mountain, we only stayed a night. We found a disbursed camping site the next morning off Hermit Pass right on the water and stayed the rest of our planned trip there. Hope your trip to Alvarado is better, and support our state and national parks!

Campground is nice, good spacing and quiet. Camp host very friendly. The roads in the campground need some work. The trails (especially Venable trail) is badly in need of maintenance. Trees fallen everywhere, poor signage, washed-out and rocky. Forest service is not doing their jobs well on the trails.

Our campsite number 39 was situated on a hillside with not much area to set up a tent. I am not even sure how this is even a legit site?? I rated our stay good because we were able to move to an open site that was flat and a typical campsite. If we could not have moved I would have rated our stay poor. DO NOT rent campsite number 39!!!!

Such a beautiful campground with endless trails to hike directly from the campground. If you enjoy bird watching this is such a delightful place to go. We saw Western Tanagers and a female hummingbird bird sitting on her nest. There are several streams to enjoy. There is good cell phone coverage. Don’t miss stopping at Sugar and Spice Mountain (Mennonite) bakery in Westcliffe.
