We were there mid-week July 2020. Not very crowded. Campsites are nicely spaced. Great stars at night. Several good hiking trails start right from the campground.

Finally, a quiet campground without generators and loud music. This is why we camp: to hear the wind, water, birds, animals, not ourselves. This campground delivers.

We love this campground! This is our second year coming here. The campground host is always so friendly, and the campground is well maintained. Bathrooms are clean. Most sites are of a good size and well-spaced. Last year we had a large site on the creek, which was perfect for our kiddos. This year our site was smaller, and very close to the two sites on either side of us. We had friends at the campground, so we spent most of our time at their site, but this group of three sites would work well for a large group wanting to camp next to each other. Westcliffe, the town in the valley, is an International Dark Sky Community, so the night sky views here are INCREDIBLE! This is a higher elevation site (9,000 ft), so it gets chillier earlier in the year (nighttime dipped into the 30's in September of last year). Very close to hiking, with a trailheads in or very near the campground.
