My family and I have been camping at Alexander spring for the last 7 years for spring break and have seen alot of changes over the years. The trail has been closed for 2 years and I heard it will take another year to be done. For years we have been able to walk down to the water after closing and now we get yelled at even though we are not getting in the water. Other then that it is a very enjoyable camping time. I recommend kayaking to enjoy the true beauty of the spring.

Alexander Springs Rec area is a beautiful place to camp and a marvellous place to swim. The sites are spacious and surrounded by lovely greenery filled with birdsong. The swimming area is large and natural, the cool waters ranging from light green to deep turquoise at the springhead. Because the slope is gradual, it is a safe place for children to play and swim. The bathrooms at the camping area are perfectly clean and well maintained. But the dishwashing sink no longer has hot water as it did when we were there last year. The bathhouse at the swimming area was partly out of order in both the men and womens' section, and not very clean.

Loud thunder-like noises throughout the daytime, came to find out there is a military base nearby. Practice bombing. Then we had 7:30 am tree cutting, chain saw through the morning hours. I'm not a early riser.
