Great camping spot. Easy hookups and not crowded. Easy drive from Tallahassee.
We were there in July. It was buggy.
Waterfront was clean and well kept. Water was clear. This is a sandy bottom lake.
Alligators are in the lake. We heard them but did not see them. I had three kids with me and we felt safe.
Hike around the lake is not strenuous. My 4 year old made it.
Overall, very pretty and remote.

Camel Lake is a beautiful location. Camp sites have adequate distance between sites and the power is clean 50 Amps. Water pressure was good.
The lake is a great place to relax, sun bathe or have a picnic. We walked the trail that surrounds the lake... an easy 1.2 mile trek.
The only drawback is there are no dump stations on the individual sites or at the camp. Luckily, our tanks were nearly empty when we got there. The dirt road leading to the camp site is pretty rugged in spots but nothing that our rig couldn't handle... it did cause some shakes and rattles on the 2 mile trip but nothing serious.
We only stayed one night as this was a waypoint on our trip to New Orleans. We were sad that we didn't stay longer but we will return for a more lengthy stay.

We really enjoyed our stay here. The little lake is so beautiful and clean, and the campsite was a nice size. The only problem was the host was unwelcoming and seemed pretty angry from the moment she checked us in. We didn't have to interact with her much until our last day. On the way out, I stopped at the restroom at the day use area since the campsite restroom was occupied for a while. Apparently, the host wanted to clean it at that exact time. The moment I entered the bathroom, she charged over from the campsite. While I was in the stall for only a minute or two, she had opened the main door and yelled at me 3 different times. Once saying "This isn't a public restroom!" Even though I'm sure she saw me just leave the campsite. Definitely the angriest camp host I've met, but at least I got some laughs out of the awkward story

Large site, private, dry camping. Power and water sites on lake were more crowded. Pretty lake, nice beach and swimming. Hot shower and flush toilet.

Camp hosts were very friendly, helpful, and informative. The sites had nice separation for privacy. The bath house was clean and well kept. The location was great!

The campground was veey clean as were the restrooms and showers. The lake is excellent for kayak and boarding.
I would like to see electricity extended to more campsites
