This was our third stay at Camel lake and we absolutely love it. In the past it has been very peaceful and quiet. However this thing there was an annoying barking dog who's owner appeared to be living there. The new campground hosts ignored the problem so my husband went to speak to the woman about it twice then we just gave up. Too bad because we really love this place.

Very friendly and helpful hosts. Very spacious and clean. Good hiking experiences. Fishing requires a boat as there is no bank fishing.

I just wasn't overly excited about the entire experience there. In the 3 days we were there; the restroom was never cleaned once and I refused to use the shower. I understand camping "off rid" so to speak but when the ONLY ammenities offered arent even suitable...hmm. There were no lights other than in the restroom either. It got dark at 4:30 (not the campgrounds issue) and the weather was horrible (also not the campgrounds issue). Will choose better next time.

This is a pretty primitive campsite- no water or electric on the actual campsite (although a few lucky sites next to the lake have that.) but the beauty and peacefulness of the place more than make up for it. The sites are very big and other campers feel far away. Far from any roads (just the sounds of nature) and adjacent to the Florida Trail. Also the camp host, Sherry, was very friendly and helpful.

Nov 2020 - Highly Recommended. We stayed 2 nights at Camel Lake Campground. Nestled in a longleaf pine forest, the campsites are flat, very spacious and separated from each other by strips of foliage. Our campsite had obviously been cleaned up and prepared by the very nice campground host and other workers prior to our arrival - same for two other campsites that our friends stayed in. The property is very well taken care of and the lake is beautiful. Next time I will bring a fishing rod. Overall, one of the nicest campground we have ever been in.

OMG this place is a hidden gem. As you drive the dirt road in for a couple miles you begin to wonder, but once there, it is awesome. Limited electric sites, but each with a great lake view and plenty of room to spread out. Only 10 sites so you feel as if you own the place. A MUST for us next time we are in the panhandle.
