Very nice campground for nature lovers. Large sites. Nice lake with walking trail around it. Very quiet and secluded. Host keeps the sites and bathrooms very well maintained. We will be coming back.

I almost don’t want to tell anyone how good this place is. It’s rustic but it’s so quiet, so gorgeous. The glory of the panhandle pine ecosystem is fully demonstrated here. Sunsets are out of this world. Trails galore straight out of the site . The road is rough coming in but it’s only 2 miles. Cell coverage is horrible but honestly you’re too busy enjoying the woods to really care. Showers are hot and private. Bathroom always clean. The dump site is kinda far at Wright lake but the bathrooms are so close to every site it doesn’t matter. We’ve been here a ton of times. Hosts are always different people each time but really nice and helpful.

Arrived at the campground to find someone on our assigned site. Tried calling the campground number, but it was after hours. Called Recreation.gov, agent expected me to tell the person on the site that it was reserved for us and they would need to move. This is NOT something that should be done by me, rather by a park employee or camp host. We ended up taking a chance and setting up on another camp site that was reserved for the night we were staying. Fortunately no one showed up for that site that evening. Very upset with the advice of the recreation.gov agent's suggestion.

The area is beautiful and peaceful. The only light is from the bathroom which is nice to see the stars at night There is a nice trail around Camel Lake. Our only complaints would be that the bathrooms aren't very clean and trash in the bathrooms isn't emptied very often. Someone was taking their dogs in the bathrooms as there was a ton of hair in the men's bathroom. I watched a woman take a dog in the women's bathroom and shower. My husband took our broom and swept it best he could after two days. The other complaint is that the host lets his dog run off leash. It ran up to us two different times when we had our dog outside. I ran back to our rig the first time, to access to death and the other time I just scooped up my dog. The dog seems friendly enough but our dog can get snappy when around a rambunctious dog.

Great site and view. Quiet area. Use caution during hunting season as they run dogs in the some of the surrounding area.

The campground is nice because it’s small the sites are large and not on top of each other. The sunsets were gorgeous over the lake. You could hike as long as you wanted since the FL trail passes right by.
During our 3 day 2 nights, the toilet paper got replenished, but never any soap. The floors never got swept either in the women’s bathroom.

Camel Lake is awesome, if you are looking for peace and quiet, and have nothing to do but relax. It is out of the way, there is no where to go unless you want to travel to get there, there are no tourist traps, fast food restaurants, quaint shops, nothing. It’s a couple slow miles down a packed dirt road that has some rough spots. There is no internet service, and cell phones barely work, so if you want to while your time away surfing the net, you better bring a starlink or similar! There are also signs posted around to not feed the alligators (why is a sign like that needed? lol). It fills up on weekends, but was very quiet during the weekdays. Camp host, Glenn, was very kind and helpful during our stay, although we didn’t have any issues. Our site was spacious and clean, and we were able to level on the hard dirt easily. We didn’t use the water hookup, electric worked fine. There is no dump station, and you must make reservations online before you go, as there is no way to get a site at the campground (and don’t forget you won’t have cell/internet). We love this place and wish we could get back more often,

Good other than messy bathrooms. Trash and debris in the showers.
