Check-in a little confusing; attendant’s note in window, “out checking campground”; called posted number ( 30 minutes later) to find gate attendant at home; note should state “proceed to site, credentials to be checked later” or something to that effect

We Love the campground!
We had an issue when we drove up to check in at 12:00 the gate keeper told us that the people had not left our site yet. He said they stayed out on the boat longer. He sounded like he told them it was ok to stay past the 11:00 check out time.
We drove over to the site and he had stuff everywhere. Was just starting to pack up stuff and he had a lot! Of stuff out.
So we had no choice but to sit there and wait, it was very hot and was raining a little and we had a small dog
The guy at the campsite told us he had a family emergency and that was why he was late but when we told him we knew he was out on a boat he knew he was busted and said oh shi_!
Hopefully the gate keepers don’t tell campers they can stay later. We did not get out site till 1:00

Beautiful location and great well-maintained park with lots of space between sites. Several gopher tortoise burrows on at the campground which were fun to watch. Only complaint is there were a lot of fire ants at our campsite.

We enjoyed the large site. The bathrooms were clean. The ships going up and down the Locke was fun.

Those with smaller units can be closer to the water for viewing the boats. We could not see them as well as Ortoona. We wanted to see how this park was. It's clean, quiet, etc. But will probably not stay at this park again.

The campsites along the River (there are only 6), are beautiful! 3 tent sites and 3 camper. The rest have views of River.
The campground is quiet, has a small restroom that is adequate. Watching boats go by, fish jumping and alligators swimming by is very nice.
Highly recommend

Extremely quiet and clean campground. Beautiful water front views, easy to navigate in and out of campsites with a Dually/30ft Airstream.
Crackle Barrel, Publix is 10 mins away, fuel is 5 mins away. Will definitely come back as we had a nice, quiet getaway.
