About Frank Gross Campground

Frank Gross is a U.S. Forest Service Campground located approximately 2 hours north of Atlanta in the North Georgia Mountains of the Chattahoochee National Forest. Frank Gross Campground offers visitors year-round recreation opportunities such as camping, fishing, picnicking, and hiking. Trout fishing is popular here in North Georgia so having a campsite such as Frank Gross adjacent to the Rock Creek is an amazing opportunity for avid fisherman. Eight campsites are neatly arranged for privacy and only walking distance to Rock Creek. Campsites 2 & 5 are directly next to the River. The climate here is fairly mild and generally offers all four seasons, so it's a wonderful place to relax and experience each of these throughout the year. North Georgia is a playground for wildlife watchers. We have an abundance of Deer, Turkey, Bear, and small Furbearers. If you need to get away from civilization and everyday life, please visit Frank Gross Campground. You'll be glad you did.

I’ve been going here for years, but unfortunately, I may not book another stay. I showed up shortly after check-in and there was somebody already setting up camp that did not have reservations. I think if the area was monitored more frequently, this would minimize this risk. Additionally, the last several times I’ve been you can’t seem to get far enough away from the bathrooms because the smell gets blown into your campsite. I also needed to clean out the fire pit before I was even able to use it. It’s a shame that it seems to be going downhill. I’m probably going to book a stay somewhere else in the area next time or just do primitive camping.

The campground is great, no amenities except the vault toilets. The road leading into to the campground is 4 miles of gravel pavement and is not in the best condition. It's ideal for tent camping and for small RVs.

This is a campground that we come back year to year. We love the creak right there and the cove of the main road so our kids can play in the creek and through out the campground with little worry of cars going by. If they do they are going slow.

Last minute overnite reservation. Long drive on bumpy gravel road. Adequate toilet. No frills. Would have been better for multi-day stay. Enjoyed the stream and the quiet (one other camper).
