About Frank Gross Campground

Frank Gross is a U.S. Forest Service Campground located approximately 2 hours north of Atlanta in the North Georgia Mountains of the Chattahoochee National Forest. Frank Gross Campground offers visitors year-round recreation opportunities such as camping, fishing, picnicking, and hiking. Trout fishing is popular here in North Georgia so having a campsite such as Frank Gross adjacent to the Rock Creek is an amazing opportunity for avid fisherman. Eight campsites are neatly arranged for privacy and only walking distance to Rock Creek. Campsites 2 & 5 are directly next to the River. The climate here is fairly mild and generally offers all four seasons, so it's a wonderful place to relax and experience each of these throughout the year. North Georgia is a playground for wildlife watchers. We have an abundance of Deer, Turkey, Bear, and small Furbearers. If you need to get away from civilization and everyday life, please visit Frank Gross Campground. You'll be glad you did.

Frank Gross Campground offers a peaceful and clean environment, making it a favorite for camping and trout fishing enthusiasts. The campground is well-maintained, with spacious sites, particularly those near the creek, providing easy access to fishing. While some campers have been disrespectful and the road conditions may be challenging, the overall experience remains positive, with many returning year after year for its remote charm and quiet atmosphere.

There was at least 30 bags of trash piled up beside the trash receptacles when we pulled in on Sunday. It was right across from our campsite. Also the smell of the bathroom would blow in the wind right towards our campsite. This was our first time paying to reserve a campsite. We usually use the free primitive sites when we camp. I don't think we will be using the pay sites again. Not what we were expecting at all

Really nice. I do wish the campsites were a little further away from the main road but it still was great.

No hooks ups, no service, no problem.
The only running water at this campground is the creek and the only communication you are going to be have is those with you and those in the campground (depending how social everyone is). This is a great place we go to every year to slow down and unplug from everything. It is incredible and beautiful. If you can get one of the 4 campsites on the creek it is even better. It is a small loop of campsites which is nice because you have a big enough area for people to move around but small enough to feel like a small community. If you take a camper you are not going to want it to be a big one because of over hanging limbs and/or depth of the campsites. Something bigger than 30 ft would be a challenge and you may only be able to get 1 car in the campsite with you which allows for 2 cars. Water, you have a creek for baths and a small 2bathroom building in the campsites which is fine by us. The bathhouse has been moved into the campground making it easier to get to and is a lot nicer than the old 90 one on the hill.
For food and beverages, you will want to try to bring in what you need because the nearest store is a local convenience store called coopers creek store, which is a great little store and you need to stop at, at least once to check it out get a snack or now they make hot food for breakfast and lunch. These are great people and nice little store. If you need power please be kind and bring a quiet generator. At night you can’t run it but you want need it if you can allow that mtn and creek air to flow through your sleeping area. It is really cool at night which is awesome.
Love this campground and would recommend to anyone looking to relax and break away from being connected or being busy!

The first night of our reservation we arrived very late to find other people in our campsite. We ended up having to sleep in our car with 2 children since our only other option was wake the other people up and wait several more hours for them to pack up. So we lost our first nights sleep, payment, and campsite. I love the reservation system but if this is going to happen then the campsites need to be monitored better so people like us that can't arrive in the daylight don't end up sleeping in the car with children because others don't do what they are suppose to do.

Peaceful and beautiful place. Listening to the creek running made for a good nights sleep. We had site 7 which had enough sun for solar power. When we go back we are going to get site 6 because it has a better layout to see the creek. Rock Creek Lake just up the road was beautiful and perfect for kayaking.
