We are truly sorry Sawnee is not open longer into the fall. Right when weather is great for camping the park closes. The park volunteers were friendly and helpful. We will come back.

This is a beautiful campground and we love coming here to visit. There are so many thing's to do around the area. Hiking, swimming, kayaking, boating, fishing just to name a few. We have had the nicest camp host & hostess everytime we stay at Sawnee. The bathrooms are clean as well as the whole campground. I highly recommend this campground to everyone.
Thanks again for being so kind & friendly!

Sawnee has some beautiful water sites, easy access to small sandy beaches around the campground and a boat ramp that can be used for launching kayaks. The hosts were amazing. Dale and Anita, Jim and Nancy, thank you so much for your assistance and willingness to go beyond. Roberto, the maintenance guy was also cordial and helpful. My husband had to be hospitalize while there and they went out of their way to help. I would have stayed there longer IF we could have. Thank you Sawnee you made a difficult time a little easier. We stayed in three sites in two weeks, because of our late reservations due to sudden need to stay longer in the area. Site 54/31/51.. of all three 51 was the worst only because of the highway noise and lots of spiders and biting ants.

Lovely park. We call it “urban camping” because of the enjoyment of being in nature and at the lake, yet only five miles from almost any grocery/restaurant/Home Depot or Lowe’s. Be sure to bring a camping chair or some sort of stool or something when using the bath house showers. There are no benches in the stalls. Only one small hook on the back of the door.

One of the most beautiful campsites we ever had, right on the water. Very friendly camp host, Jim Hughes, asked us if we needed to purchase firewood despite our very late arrival (10 p.m.) due to an accident outside Atlanta. He opened the wood shed to accommodate us, and we were so appreciative that we were able to have a campfire for an hour before retiring. We booked the site last minute since we were unable to travel to a different campground we originally booked. It happened to be the last site available, #18, probably due to someone else's cancellation. What a "WOW" morning we had when we looked out our windows to the magnificent water view! Jim told us when we checked out that this site is usually difficult to get. We really felt blessed. Wish we could've stayed longer. Next time!
