What Guests Are Saying

Desoto Falls Recreation Area offers clean, spacious campsites, many of which are conveniently located near the creek and hiking trails to beautiful waterfalls. Guests appreciate the well-maintained facilities and the peacefulness, particularly at night when road noise diminishes. However, some reviews mention issues with road noise from traffic, ongoing maintenance concerns for restrooms, and occasional lack of water access, which can detract from the overall experience.

It was a great time at the camp ground. The extreme noise at times from the highway was annoying.

Too close to the road. It’s an area that attracts motorcycles and they are very loud. The falls are wonderful and the hike is pretty easy. Great for a day trip but not over night.

It was absolutely wonderful the only thing that I would change is the last time my family went there was no camp post was wondering where they were a campsite can get out of hand quickly if a host is not monitoring it

The noise of motorcycles riding the main road outside camp was horrible. The camp is very nice the trails, waterfalls and creek were perfect BUT THE ROAD NOISE WAS HORRIBLE.

Sites need more gravel. When it rained it was a muddy mess. I did see piles of gravel around so maybe you’re working on this problem.
But the ladies shower needs attention right away for the water on/off valve. It’s ridiculous. There is a string you have to slide over the button that keeps slipping off that seems to be the only way to keep water on.
This is still one of my favorite places to camp. Love being around the creek. The camp hosts are always so nice.

We love DeSoto falls and recreation area, we usually go there 3 times a year to get away from hot Florida, Always fun, with the beautiful creek and waterfall you can hike to. Love the hosts as well. Thank you for keeping such a nice piece of forest accessible for visitors like us.

I love camping there, It's the only place I camp, but the out house toilets are very bad. the ladies get infections from using it, we need flush toilets. We need a solar powered gate to let guest in and keep ride through people out. People come in and use the showers and fill there campers with water and not camping here. Also an unpaid camper comes in at dark spends the night and leaves early the next morning. Without a gate anyone can come in any time at night
