What Guests Are Saying

Whitetail Ridge campground is highly praised for its spacious, well-maintained sites and beautiful lake views. Campground hosts are consistently described as friendly and helpful, enhancing the overall experience. While some reviewers noted a need for more frequent cleaning of bathhouses and occasional ant issues, the peaceful atmosphere and excellent location make it a favorite destination for campers.

This is an amazing campground. The sites are spacious, the restrooms were clean (could use a little updating, but perfectly functional and clean). The park staff was super friendly and helpful and the location was nice if you needed to get to town, but secluded enough to be, well, camping. We could hear trains in the distance but it didn't really bother me because it's in the distance, not nearby. I would recommend this campground to anyone needing a place to camp in the area.

Absolutely love this campground. Only negative I would give has nothing to do with the campground itself, but more of a complaint about a fellow camper who dumped his smelly fish parts in the lake near our campsite. We endured a pleasurable smell of dead and rotting fish for the remainder of the day/night...

We really like Whitetail Ridge campground. We have stayed there 3 times in the past 4 years, in the same site (29). The host that greeted us at the gate on the afternoon of March 7 , was extremely welcoming and helpful. As we came back to the campground after the first session of the Azelea Storytelling Festival (the reason we were there), he was looking for those of us who had attended that event and making sure we were safely back. I felt very cared for and appreciate his attentiveness.
However, the following night, after the Festival we rushed back from LaGrange College and arrived at the gate at 9:58 only to find it locked. Thankfully, the other camp host was still there. He reluctantly opened the gate for us, but humphed at me when I thanked him. We felt very unwelcome.
These festivals are annual trips for us, and we look forward to hearing great stories and staying in great campgrounds. Whitetail Ridge is the only campground we have ever felt rushed to get to after a storytelling session, and we have never felt like an imposition to camp hosts at another campground.

  • There is a four (4) vehicle per campsite limit in the campground. This includes cars, trucks, campers, RVs, boat trailers, and utility trailers. There is no overflow parking.
  • PARKING: Vehicles should be parked in campsite driveways and designated parking spaces. Vehicles may be parked two-wide in most driveways. If spaces are unavailable, park on the shoulder of the road with the direction of traffic. All four wheels should be off the pavement with the vehicle parallel to the roadway.

Invisible fences or wireless collars are not sufficient. Pet owners must dispose of all pet waste. Pens and cages should not be placed on graveled impact pads due to sanitary concerns. Pets are not allowed in restrooms, shower houses or on playgrounds.
  • Attention: Effective immediately, West Point Lake campgrounds will accept payment by credit card, debit card, or prepaid credit card only. No other form of payment will be accepted. This change will streamline financial transactions, provide quicker processing of refunds and enhance gatehouse operations. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your business this camping season.
  • The primary occupant must check-in before guests of the primary occupant are allowed to visit a reserved campsite. Those providing rental campers will not be allowed to set-up prior to the arrival of the primary occupant.
  • Campers who arrive more than one day late for their reservation will be considered a "no show" and their reservation will be cancelled. If you're planning to arrive later than you're scheduled arrival date, please contact the gatehouse at 706-884-8972.
