We enjoyed our stay here. We were in #29. I will say backing into this spot was a little intimidating cause it was a little steep. Very spacious campsite. Loved that we had our own private trail to the lake. However, we were a bit disappointed that the lake was so low. We learned that they drain it every year around this time. Gorgeous Mountain View over the lake made up for it.

Sites are not level. Hard to back in because of large rocks. Bathouses modern and very clean.

Morganton is a very nice campground! The shower house and bathroom facilities are very nice and clean, and heated when it is cool outside. The campground host is wonderful. He will even deliver wood and ice to your site. Unfortunately it rained the whole time we were there, so we didn't get to take him up on the firewood purchase and delivery, nor did we get to enjoy the lovely lake. We will definitely return if we are in the area again.

A quiet and scenic campground layered around the shores of Blue Ridge Lake. Most sites are geared toward tents or small RV/trailers, but with a little work we got our 27" trailer leveled. The woods are calming with places to stroll, hike or head down to the lake to recreate. The campground is well maintained and cared for by the host members RD and Jennifer. Everyone we met was friendly and eager to share their stories, as many are repeat campers to this park.
Our only negative was another camper had their dogs off leash and two of them attacked our small Jack Russel mix. Fortunately, she only suffered minor abrasions and surface bite marks on her leg. The owners apologized and the camp host Jennifer discussed the incident with them to avoid another incident.

This is a great campground. we love it. BUT the added charges are out of line for a govt resource. Having to cancel a 1 night reservation with reservation fee ( what is this?) and add on for electricity meant that a $29 reservation was was refunded $11. And it was weeks before the reservation date. They got something going on here that I don't expect from reservations.gov

Campers are able to utilize the day use area for free, but if you have a vehicle parked in the day use parking lot then you have to pay the day use fee. You can be dropped off at the day use area and park at your campsite if you like. |
