Cooper Creek Campground (GA)

I have been going to Coppers Creek for nearly 20 years. I generally go up there for at least twice a year for two weeks a trip. This last trip we were there the last week of April and the first week of May. When I checked my reservation just before we went up this year there were no Alerts were posted. When we got there we soon found out there was no running water even though several signs posted in the campsite stated there would be water after April 1st. Also, there were red flags in the fire pits that indicated there was a ban on open fires. There also was no camp host which is good to have around especially on the weekends because some campers do not follow the 10pm to 6am quite period, which also forbids running a generator during that time period. Even though four or five years ago they double the price each day to reserve a site there have not been any improvements to the individual sites. A couple of years ago they dumped a pile of small gravel outside of site 14, but they have never spread it on any site and all of them badly need it. I would recommend you call the local DNR office in Blairsville to find out what's goin on before you go! Also, there is no cell or internet service at or near the camp site Fortunately, they remove the ban on open fire that last 5 days we were there, and we caught some trout and the weather was great.

First of all on the website, it said nothing about no campfires, nor did it say anything about having no water available. We made do. Site 19 is awful with the big rocks, twisted my leg and hurt my knee. I have always loved this campground, but this has been the worst experience I have had there. No Camp host!! And they had workers coming down cutting brush and trees, they must have hit a beehive, because after they were done our site had bees everywhere. Worst experience I have ever had there!

Had a great time camping with friends. Caught some trout. Missed having a campfire due to drought but we had a great time anyway.

Camping site was nice, plenty to do. No cell service, which is a plus! Everything was peaceful, and there is a small camp store before you pull off.

I absolutely understand an abrupt and unannounced fire ban mandated by the Gov'ner. But, no notice of a existing water shut off was a big inconvenience to our group.

Great location. Campsites are clean and each offer different views and benefits.
No campsite hosts. Water posted that it should be on 2 weeks earlier but it wasn't.
No host means a free for all on campsites. Most people will not get reservations. Plenty of good hiking trails nearby.

Perfect place to kick back and enjoy nature! Sent 5 days on the Georgia traverse and spent 2 nights in Coopers creek.

Great location and fishing was awesome. The water was not working at any of the pump faucets. Enjoyed the time there.

I spent eleven days there Camping and fishing and found it to be a quiet and peaceful place to camp and enjoy. Please note, I have been camping at CC for the past 29 years. The things that could have been better were the road and potable water supply. The road was in the worst condition that I have seen it in many years and the water supply was still turned off from the normal winter process. The water was suppose to be turned on by April 1st (according to signs on the water faucets) but was still off when I checked out on April 5th. The road into the campground was full of very serious potholes which showed that no one was paying attention to the road condition. Otherwise, the campground was OK>
