Overall we had a great time with family-hiking-fishing-bike riding. We saw a bear in the campground but no problem.

Beautiful stream with great access. The sites are close together with not much in between, which kind of takes away from the "nature" part of the experience. The pit toilets were pretty nasty when we were there, but it is summer and right after the July 4th weekend. But access to hiking trails, fishing, and relaxing quiet were all easy to find.

Campground host made us feel very welcoming and very friendly. Campground was clean and the vault toilets were always kept cleaned and stocked. Despite previous reviews we were very pleased. Campsite was right on the water and very relaxing. No cell service whatsoever. Perfect place to get away from it all.

The camp fire ring was full of plastic and cans. The camp site smelled of urine. People drove through blowing their horn and yelling to wake everyone up at 3AM. This has happened the last 3 times we camped here including last summer. Just not what it use to be.

The guy in the site I had reserved for 2 weeks told me he was leaving around noon. I came back after 1pm and the camp host was on the site and reminded me that I could not set up my tent until after 3pm even though I told her that I had talked to the person who had just left the site. I told her I knew the rules, leave by 2pm and can’t set up until after 3pm, but I didn’t think there would be any problems if the other camper had already left earlier??? Also, she didn’t enforce the dog leash rule or the use of generators after 10pm.

This is our 10th year going to Coopers for the same week in April. Overall, a decent experience. There is a new camp host, who is by far anything but a “host” who has handwritten notes duct taped all over the campsites, which just looks tacky and unsightly. She also called DNR and the sheriff on one of the campers who were talking too loudly after 10pm. Rather than just go tell them to quiet down, 3 different law enforcement agencies showed up at daylight the next morning…. Definitely not the way to handle things. The toilets were full, which was just gross. I’ve used them for years, and understand their function. But when it is so full that the contents splash up on you, things change. Definitely a disappointing trip.
