This particular campground was perfect for us and our dogs. Almost completely shaded and near the rest room. The shower house was a little farther but an easy walk from the campsite. Not too far from the lake. We had a wonderful time enjoying the scenic views, the peaceful silence of nature, and the never ending walking paths to discover the park. We will be back!

Very scenic campground which is well maintained. Staff at the gate/office were friendly and helpful. Sites are generally very spread out. Be advised that many of the sites are narrow and steep — we asked to be moved from the site we originally reserved because of this. Would come back again!

1st and worst check-in ever. Lady was very very rude and unprofessional to my husband. He asked if we get a price difference for Retired Army disabled senior Veteran. She saw another Rv coming in and told my husband just get on out of here. We were parked on the right side for parking to check in so not to interfere to incoming traffic.
We were surprised about the water level being so low. It would be curtesy to let people know before reserving.
Also I know that budget is low but to let the bathroom and showers get to be so rusted and no paint. My grandchildren said it was the worst they ever seen. Then we see all like of work with many workers outside the visitors office which should be put into your paying campers bathroom and showers.
On the positive side of this visit would be the sites were excellent besides the water level at this time.

We love staying here. Water all around and a peaceful atmosphere. We love to walk and ride our bikes so lots of pavement for those activities. A lot of people go boating. We’re out of state so can’t enjoy that activity but we always find something to do.

The camping trip was a wonderful family experience! The site itself was clean, well-maintained, and perfectly suited for our family vacation. The weather was absolutely beautiful the entire time, making for perfect days of exploring, relaxing, and quality time together. We did note that the lake was down significantly, which slightly impacted water activities, but honestly, the gorgeous surroundings and great atmosphere more than made up for it. We managed to have an incredible time and are already looking forward to our return visit! Highly recommended for a fantastic, relaxing getaway.

We love the ACOE campgrounds! They are all well maintained, clean, spacious, beautiful, with good separation between sites. Furthermore, they are incredibly affordable, especially with the Federal Senior Lifetime Pass. My only negative comment re. Shaefer was the restroom facility could use a new coat of paint and a replacement mirror.
