What Guests Are Saying
R. Shaefer Heard campground offers well-maintained, spacious sites with beautiful lake views, ample privacy, and friendly staff, making it a favorite for many visitors. The location is convenient, with easy access to shopping and activities, and the facilities are generally clean. However, some guests noted issues with rude staff on certain days and outdated bathrooms, along with occasional pest problems. Overall, it is regarded as a fantastic place to camp and relax.

The park is very clean and organized, although there were quite a few long legged spiders in the bath house! When camping, nature is inevitable!! The camp host were helpful when we asked to relocate to another site (the picnic table and fire ring were on the opposite side of our camper door), and made the transition very easy. Although the lake was drained as a seasonal operation, we enjoyed finding things in the sand, and seeing what sort of paw prints were made during the night.

Returned to site #112 as it is one of the best for my Sunfish sailboat shore docking. Lake is low due to dam maintenance but still deep. Staff is always friendly and informative.

All year the lake has been low when we camp, not good fishing from camp. Grass needed cut, sights need new gravel and the restrooms need updated badly at all the campgrounds on this lake. Have been going down here over 20years, hard to believe campgrounds getting in this bad shape .
