What Guests Are Saying
Pine Flats offers a beautiful and peaceful camping experience with plenty of trees and proximity to the river and hot springs. While some visitors reported issues with restroom cleanliness and uneven tent sites, the campground is generally well-regarded and family-friendly. Improvements to facilities and site reservations could enhance the overall experience for future guests.

Our camp host was amazing! He was helpful and cheerful. The hot springs was lovely, even if the hike down was more strenuous than expected.

The camp host was incredible! He was out and about each day of our stay. He checked in with us and other guests each day. The vault restroom was the cleanest I've ever used! Very pleased and we will be back!

Five stars for our camp host Tall Paul, zero stars for recreation.gov on this one. Booked a Thursday night and then Friday and Saturday specifically said , First Come First Serve. Actually all the weekends for this site said that through summer. Some sites did say reserved when booking on Thursday so I could not choose those ones.
We check in and get settled to our spot, we are right next to another family and they must have got there just before us and they were getting set up. Flash forward to 10:30 (we were in an rv with our lights still on) and our host came by and wanted to know if were were checkin out next day or staying with a group who was coming in the morning in our spot and our neighbors spot. We said no and explained what rec.gov website said. Unfortunately he thought that’s what we were going to say because another camper that day said the same thing.
In the morning we met our neighbors and told the wife about our experience and she said THE SAME THING. Only bad part was her husband left for the day early because he had to go to work so she and her kids were stuck there with the trailer.
We ended up moving them to the only spot open for the weekend and we had to go find somewhere else on memorial weekend. Yup it was lame and sold out everywhere.
Grand total of 4 campsites (that I talked to) had this happen during our trip and had to leave same as us. I don’t know what happened and why people were allowed to book and why the weekend did not say reserved but we brought our 3 children and my mom drove separately, total disappointment for first weekend of summer break.

We loved this campsite. The river is a little fast here, but older kids and adults will have fun down the hill from campsite 6. The hot springs is a short 8-10 minute walk away and makes for an amazing early morning activity (gets a little busy after that). I wouldn't recommend campsites 5-7 for RV as you'll feel like you're camping in a parking lot. Those sites don't have separate driveways, it's more of a cul-de-sac. Tent campers can pitch their tents on the ground next to the pavement. It's just kinda....different. The rest of the campground is pretty standard for other Boise National Forest campgrounds. Definitely recommend!

Enjoyed the location, plenty of room between campers, close to bathroom. The hike to the hot pools is pretty technical for people using canes. We drove up to Kirkham for hot pools. Locations near the river are best. We did not have these as we needed two together. Really enjoyed the place. Easy to walk around.

Good cool weather camping, but wouldn't stay here when it's hot out as there is very little shade due to all the trees that have been cut down.
Also the camp host let campers run their generators all night long. Not fun sitting by the campfire and having to listen to generators all night long. Finally went to bed close to midnight with them still rolling along.

We had an amazing time at this site! There were quite a few areas that are still recovering from a fire, but it didn't ruin our trip. We tried going to the hot spring tub that was a little higher up, but it was very too treacherous for our small kids. Just a word of caution. Lots of lizards, snakes, and bugs for our kids to catch - they had a blast!!! We'll definitely go back. If you are there during summer months, i would advise bringing a tent shade in case your site has burned out trees or not much shade.
