To many loud and obnoxious motorcycles, cars, trucks and water craft. Not a place for peace and quiet.

It was a great week. Bathrooms were clean, campground host were nice and pleasant. Nice area to go hiking, which we did a lot of and a lot of bike trails, which we did a lot of biking. Been going to West Overlook for about 35 years.

The rating is solely based off or site and the view! It was GORGEOUS! I believe we lucked out with the best site in the campground. To bad it was only for a quick overnight paying through.

Our stay was early June and We were in site 25 across from the playground. Back in sites, roomy enough for our 36β motor home with just enough room for the Jeep. Had level concrete. Dump and water station nearby. Power was stable. The site is elevated above the river for nice views and breezes. We drove to the beach since we had too much to carry, but the beach is close enough to bike to. The beach is sandy and water is shallow, perfect for kiddos. The water was warm. Nice playground near the beach. Next time we will try for a spot closer to the beach. Nice boat launch close by. Visitor center was undergoing a remodel. Check out the fossil hunting area within the park!

As far as the campground goes itβs a five star. However it was blazing hot the three days we were there. So overall our stay was a four out of five stars. Because of the weather.

Great place for kids. Nice spots, and enjoyed having a place to park boat.

From Interstate 80 (Iowa City, IA) take Exit 244 towards Dubuque St./North Liberty. Travel north on Dubuque St. for 3 miles and turn right onto West Overlook Rd. NE. Travel on West Overlook Rd. NE for 1.1 miles. At the stop sign take a slight left turn. The entrance to the West Overlook Campground will be located straight ahead.
From Interstate 380 (North Liberty, IA) take Exit 4 towards North Liberty. Travel east on W. Penn St. for 2 miles and turn right onto N Dubuque St. Travel south on N Dubuque St. for 1.9 miles, at the traffic circle, continue straight onto Dubuque St NE. Continue traveling south on Dubuque St. NE for 1.8 miles. Turn left onto West Overlook Rd. NE and travel east for 1.1 miles. At the stop sign take a slight left turn. The entrance to the West Overlook Campground will be located straight ahead.
