What Guests Are Saying
Howell Station is a highly praised campground known for its spacious, clean sites and beautiful natural surroundings, making it a favorite for families. Campers enjoy the quiet atmosphere, friendly staff, and numerous recreational opportunities, including biking and wildlife watching. Some minor improvements are suggested, like better Wi-Fi and complete hookups, but overall, visitors have had great experiences and plan to return.

One of Iowa's best campgrounds, super clean and well maintained by a staff who were all helpful and friendly. Easy access to nice paved biking/walking trail, easy river access, and easy access to downtown Pella. Highly recommend!!

Beautiful campground! Our site (32) was so spacious and we loved watching the deer walk through the woods nearby. It looked like most of the sites on the perimeter near us were also spacious. Our boys like the quick walk to the river for fishing. They caught a lot! We didn’t have water hookups but there were water hydrants nearby. Nice shower houses!

Great park have stayed there before. Last year the summer started off with wonderful weather, this year not so much. Still had a good stay and finally made it to the full length of the bicycle trail and climbed the Observation Tower at the NW end of the lake and could watch some of the construction on the "Mile Long Bridge". Should have remembered the binoculars, but sadly didn't. Maybe next time.

Do not expect phone service. Don't plan to do anything on the day you have to leave, just like a motel..have to be out by noon

The RV campsites are quite large and spaced quite a bit apart. There are lots of trees so most sites are shady and included a picnic table and fire pit. We had nice views of the river. There are paved bike and walking paths all around the campground and to the other campsites as well as connecting to a bike trail around Lake Red Rock. We enjoyed the bike trails. There is a lot of open space at Howell Station for families to set up games and play areas so it seems a perfect spot for family and group camping.
The town of Pella is close by and there are several good restaurants and shops as well as history about the Dutch settlers. Definitely worth a visit.
