Howell Station is a highly praised campground known for its spacious, clean sites and beautiful natural surroundings, making it a favorite for families. Campers enjoy the quiet atmosphere, friendly staff, and numerous recreational opportunities, including biking and wildlife watching. Some minor improvements are suggested, like better Wi-Fi and complete hookups, but overall, visitors have had great experiences and plan to return.

I've stayed at Howell Station for years. Great campsite, good sites, clean restrooms, great access to Knoxville, Pella, the bike trail, etc. Lake Red Rock is a great place to stay!

My favorite campground overall. Nice roomy camp sights. Mature trees with plenty of shade. Trails all around and river in view. There's so much wildlife and too many bird species to count. Walk the trail along the river and seeall tald eagles in the trees waiting for a fish to catch.
Howell station is the best kept secret in south central iowa.... But do not tell anyone! Lol

The location is facing northeast into the shade. If you use this spot go with a friend camper because the spot in front of you is close. So this would be great for a family get together or friends weekend spot to share your camping “Space”.
