What Guests Are Saying
Howell Station is a highly praised campground known for its spacious, clean sites and beautiful natural surroundings, making it a favorite for families. Campers enjoy the quiet atmosphere, friendly staff, and numerous recreational opportunities, including biking and wildlife watching. Some minor improvements are suggested, like better Wi-Fi and complete hookups, but overall, visitors have had great experiences and plan to return.

It was a very relaxing weekend of camping! I went fishing and, like normal, the fish just jumped out of the water and laughed at me, so there’s that…

It was our first time there and we had so much fun! Everything was clean, especially the bathroom.

I love camping at Howell Station! Your bathrooms are extremely clean and the volunteers do a great job! However, the chemicals that are used to clean the bathrooms is so strong and offensive I couldn’t stand to be in there until the end of the day. In fact I could smell it across the street at my campsite while the door was open. NASTY! This can’t be good for anyone’s lungs or health. Please consider changing to something else.

Clean, well-maintained, and ample room between sites.

We enjoyed our stay. The restrooms are always well maintained. The grass could definitely use a mowing as my toddler had a difficult time walking through the tall grass to the park. Also, check out time is ridiculously early.

Great Campgroud. Super wide sites. Would like them to blacktop the second dump station that was added several years ago. It needs it.

Beautiful site. Nice, quiet, and plenty of space between you and your neighbors. The showers and restrooms were taken care of daily; much better than any other campground we've been to. I would book my stay here again.

This was amazing!! We had a site right next to the Des Moines River and near the foot bridge. The pelicans were beautiful, and the bird sounds were just everywhere in the forest across the river and in the campground. We definitely want to come back!
