What Guests Are Saying
Howell Station is a highly praised campground known for its spacious, clean sites and beautiful natural surroundings, making it a favorite for families. Campers enjoy the quiet atmosphere, friendly staff, and numerous recreational opportunities, including biking and wildlife watching. Some minor improvements are suggested, like better Wi-Fi and complete hookups, but overall, visitors have had great experiences and plan to return.

we decided to book a last min camping trip. found a spot open in North overlook booked it and packed up the camper.
we got a call about an hour later from the campground saying that the site we booked was somehow double booked and they would try to find us a new spot. we were called back shortly with our new site number and they apologized for having to move us. when we arrived at the check in booth they apologized again and thanked us for being flexible.
that evening another person stopped by to make sure we got settled in and were doing OK in the new spot very apologetic and nice. we were very happy with the location and the amount of time they spent to make sure it was a suitable replacement site.

Spacious campsites well kept with clean restrooms. This campground is located on the river below Red Rock dam. Good fishing and a great bike path that takes you around the lake. You can also take the path into Pella which has many nice parks and unique shops, check out the Dutch pastries and a couple of excellent meat markets.

It’s always an enjoyable camping trip when we stay at Howell Station! Well kept shower/bathrooms; maintained grounds; safe location due to routine checks by DNR staff; beautiful walking trails; pet friendly; fishing options; and best of all, family friendly!

After a very hot day of boating, we wanted a shady campsite where we could shower and cool down. Howell Station was perfect. We had a nice shady spot. But, the thing I liked best was that the campsites are a nice distance apart from one another. We were only there overnight so I can't comment on activities etc.

After a summer of unpredictability and cancelations, it was nice to have a nice break from reality. The grounds were well maintained and the bathhouses were kept real clean. The trails around the parks are great and have spectacular views. This area is definitely a family favorite as the park/playground was nearby for the little ones, fishing is only steps away for the older ones and us adults could just relax. We've been visiting for a few years now and will definitely be returning.
