What Guests Are Saying
Howell Station is a highly praised campground known for its spacious, clean sites and beautiful natural surroundings, making it a favorite for families. Campers enjoy the quiet atmosphere, friendly staff, and numerous recreational opportunities, including biking and wildlife watching. Some minor improvements are suggested, like better Wi-Fi and complete hookups, but overall, visitors have had great experiences and plan to return.

We love camping at Howell Station because the sites are very spacious and so we always feel like we have plenty of room and are the perfect distance from neighbors. The hosts are always polite, bathrooms are clean, and the campground is kept nice as well. We like that Pella is a very short drive away and so we don't have to go too far in case we need something from the store. We were lucky enough to snag site 101 and so we had an absolutely beautiful view of the river. The site is right next to the bike path so you can see quite a bit of traffic, but everyone is usually very friendly. I do wish there was an easier way to get down to the river to fish rather than scaling the rocks with all of your equipment. I also would like to see them bring back some walk-up sites because it seems to be more difficult now to get a site on the weekends. We used to camp here at least 5-6 weekends a year but since they switched all sites to reservable online, we are lucky to get a site 2-3 times a year. Other than those couple of things, there isn't anything I would change about this place. We love it and will continue to camp here as long as we are able to get a spot!

We love staying at Howell Station. The campsites are very spacious, there are nice playgrounds for the kids and it's nice to have the bike trail right by it. Right now the water drinking fountains are closed, other than that it's all as normal as before.

U S Cellular is our cell phone service provider. Cell service is very limited in this area. Howell Station is in a very low area below the Red Rock Dam. Trees need trimmed more often. Scraping the roof of our 5th wheel can damage it.
We had to replace one roof at $15,000.00.
(NOT caused by the trees in this campground) but we check every campground before parking our unit.
