Houchin ferry campground is perfect for anyone who wants to do any actual primitive camping. I highly recommend it for anyone interested in that. We had zero cell phone service (Verizon) for about a 40 mile radius. Our camping neighbors had Sprint and they said they had one bar of service in certain spots. Luckily my car was wifi compatible that used AT&T towers. We were able to get around the area and look up the different places we wanted to go using that. I highly recommend planning your trip out in advance and bringing paper or printed out maps of how to get places.
This campground was right off of the Green River and was a pleasant sound to wake up to and fall asleep to as well. The bathrooms are Porta-potty’s and are exactly as you would expect them to be. Bring your own TP for your most comfort.
This campsite is said to be for tents only but we did see people with scampers on the back of trucks.
It is only 15 minutes from Mammoth Cave Visitor center and a short drive from many other awesome caves as well. 5 minutes away from a small grocery store and a gas station for essentials.
We will definitely be back to this one for sure next time we visit.

I reserved a campsite, received a confirmation email, and was officially in the park's system as having reserved a site. When I arrived someone had set a tent up on the site and I was told there was "no way of knowing" who was supposed to be able to use the site that night. So what is the point of having reservations made online and then planning a trip around those reservations?

I showed up and there were people in my site. After working with other campers, it became obvious that there were multiple groups of locals squatting in sites. Not wanting to escalate anything (as there is little cell signal) myself and other legitimate campers just set up wherever we could find a spot. Quiet hours were not followed by the rowdy locals. More ranger presence would be nice. The sites themselves and the location is nice.

Campground is nice and peaceful if others aren't playing loud music. A little more ranger presence would be nice. Other than that a great time!!

Some pads said concrete but I saw none that were. Most sites seemed to have some slope. No booster and inside vehicle was one to zero bars with AT&T. Nice campground near river. Would gladly stay again.

The campsites are very close together, but there was only one other group camping when we went there. It was a nice spot but I could see if being too crowded in busier seasons

They have a great canopy and fireplace area, which we loved using on New Year's Eve.
