Basic campsites with a concrete picnic table, fire ring and grill grate, parking pad, and space for a good sized tent. Large port-a-pots but no where to shower. Only downsides are: Campsites are somewhat small and close together. You will be very aware of your neighbors. Also, if you plan to use the showers at the campstore 20+ minutes away, you have to bring quarters or 1s and 5s for the change machine as showers are coin operated, and there is no ATM or store that will do cash back anywhere within the national park.

I did not realize this campground was disconnected from the main area of the park. It’s a good, quiet place if you only plan on only sleeping there and being gone the rest of the day. Probably the most private option. The shelter was nice but very dirty so bring wipes. Also no host or visitor center so if you need a worker you’ll have to drive 20 minutes to the visitor center (I never needed anyone though).

Campsites were a tad bit closer to each other than we expected, but other campers were respectful and observed quiet hours during our stay. Portable toilets cleaner than expected, overall a positive experience and would stay again.

Nice little campground. Access to the river is pretty limited though. Pictures were a little deceiving of the river but overall still pretty nice. Bathrooms were just port o potty’s but were very clean and well placed.

Poorly up kept but functional. The space had a lot more people than the "small" camp vibe they put on the camp information. I will say that mammoth caves is spectacular and worth a crappy night's sleep. I highly suggest still going to mammoth caves national park.

Campsites are right on the Green River. Porta-potties for bathrooms with good tasting well water.

The sit next to the River was very nice. It was quite cold, so we used the Pavilion to warm up at. The Porta-Potties were cleaned and emptied on our second day, that was very nice.

Note: Do not rely exclusively on your mobile GPS, Google Maps or similar automated navigation systems to get to the Houchin Ferry Campground. Routes can be misleading and incorrect.
Directions from the North: Take Interstate 65 to Exit 53 (Cave City Exit). Turn right onto KY-70. Follow 70/255, about 4 miles you turn left on 255 just before entering the park, follow this to Brownsville Rd, turn left and follow this all the way until it ends at Hwy-101, turn right go about a quarter mile to Houchin Ferry Rd. (Minit Mart on corner), turn right and follow this to campground.
Directions from the South: Take Interstate 65 to Exit 48 (Park City Exit). Turn left onto KY-255 follow this into the park, when you come to the stop sign turn left and follow this to Brownsville Rd, turn left and follow this all the way until it ends at Hwy-101, turn right go about a quarter mile to Houchin Ferry Rd. (Minit Mart on corner), turn right and follow this to campground.
Houchin Ferry Campground has access to Interstate 65, with Exit 53 (Cave City Exit) and Exit 48 (Park City Exit) providing routes to KY-70 and KY-255 respectively. Both highways lead to local roads that connect to the campground.

- Firearms must be carried in accordance with Kentucky state law, but all other weapons are prohibited. Possession of firearms in the park buildings and cave is prohibited. The use of firearms is prohibited anywhere within Mammoth Cave National Park.
