What Guests Are Saying
Pikes Ridge is highly praised as a clean, well-maintained campground with beautiful views and friendly hosts, making it a favorite for many families over the years. Guests appreciate the spacious shower facilities, peaceful atmosphere, and excellent access to water activities like kayaking and fishing. Some minor concerns include the narrow access road and occasional noise from generators, but these do not significantly detract from the overall positive experience.

One of the best campsite settings in Kentucky. Right on the water. Beautiful.

The view is wonderful. Camp hosts were great. However, the drive up the mountain to it is one lane and very hard if you meet someone so drive slow and be careful.

site 14 is unlevel to the point when you walk out your camper door you are going done hill, its hard to set your chairs on a hill. the rock they have used to cover the sites are so big its unsafe to walk on them, the picnic tables are in need of repair the legs are rusty, the trees need to be trim to keep from tearing up the roofs of the campers and awning. we love Pike Ridge but there needs to be some serious maintenance done.

The road to get there long and a bit scary and cars fly up and down the one lane road but is entirely worth it. We car camped for a night and it was amazing. The swimming area is nice and big and the views from the fishing/look out spot is incredible. Have nothing bad to say about our stay at Pikes Ridge!

Unfortunately, there are no public bathrooms or showers (just port-a-potties that were filthy). I would have never even gone there had I realized this. We reserved a tent spot by the water but people in the adjoining sites crowed into it and took it over. We then moved into a wooded spot but it was not suitable either as it was absolutely infested with ticks. We ended up leaving without staying the night. Bummer.

This campground was really a wonderful find for tent campers. We set up 4 individual tents on our two adjoining sites and it was perfect! We loved being on the water and even had a Mallard Duck couple visit us every day! This was my first time to use vault toilets and these, at least, were very clean - no smell at all ! I did miss having shower facilities but since our trip was only women, it didn't matter much.
We loved it and plan to return- showers or no showers!!!

Would love to give this place 5 stars due to it's incredible views, cleanliness and great maintenance but there are a couple seriously needed improvements needed. 1st: The rock used on the campsites is WAY TOO BIG. Likely used to help it remain during floods, but it's a serious twisted ankle hazard, even covered with a camper rug, it bites into the bottom of your shoes badly. An investment in asphalt would cure these issues easily. Pretty much ruined a near-perfect trip due to a twisted ankle.
2nd, and not that big of a deal, but could seriously use some bath/shower houses. The port-a-johns are maintained impeccably, but are quite a distance and tough to get to with a twisted ankle (see 1st comment). Luckily someone was at the gate/check-in when we arrived, but not a soul seen there for the next 3 days. Not sure if anyone from the Forest Service is employed full time there...no idea how to get hold of someone if there were issues. All in all, has phenomenal potential to be a 5-star campground because most everything was awesome....piers, beach, boat ramps, well maintained tree lines. Just watch your step on those rocks!
