By going in the middle of the week and choosing a campsite away from the lake, it was quiet and scenic -- just what I was looking for. The only glitch came at the check-in. I arrived about 4pm. I asked the attendant at the checkin booth if I could drive through, pick out a couple of potential campsites, & come back and pay. She agreed & even marked on a map the campsites that were still open and did not have reservations holding them. I came back in a few minutes with my choice. Unfortunately, the attendant's computer had lost its internet connection (which apparently also happened the day before), & therefore she could not check me in or assign me a campsite. She dialed the recreation.gov phone number using the phone in the checkin booth & handed it outside to me, in hopes of my being able to reserve the site that way. After being on hold for 15 minutes, a recreation.gov person came on the line. Just as we began to work through the process of making a reservation, she said, "I can't hear you very well," and our phone connection was broken! After handing the attendant back their phone, I went to my vehicle and tried using my cell phone to make the call; however, the signal was too weak to make a call or to connect to the recreation.gov website in order to make the reservation. The attendant suggested I "drive to the top of the hill" because that's where a lot of people had to go to get a cell phone signal. I did, & was finally able to set up a recreation.gov account & reserve the campsite of my choice. So, here are my lessons learned & recommendations: (1) Assume you won't have a cell signal in much of the recreation area, and don't count on the attendant's booth having any connection to the outside world either. (2) Set up a recreation.gov account ahead of time. (3) If you can't tell from the website which campsite you want, arrive ahead of time to scout them out. Then be prepared to leave Moutardier to make a cellular internet connection & make your reservation.

We tent camp. This trip wasn't a holiday. Our site was rutted out by someone that spun their tires on the gravel pad and made a mess of our site. Wasn't fun leveling the site for an hour. The bathrooms were disgusting. DISGUSTING. Prices have gone up significantly, but the campsite isn't being maintained as it was a couple years ago. Too many lights and noise from the $200,000 campers parked all around us. We haven't given up on the campground, but the pressure put on the campgrounds by the "new" campers makes it tough to keep returning.

This is a great campground for anyone. There was a good variety of families, couples and groups. Our site was waterfront which had very nice views and easy access to the water. However the site was very steep so it made unhooking and hooking up a little more difficult. Once unhooked the nose of your camper will be very close to the ground. The patio section of our site was a little tight for us as well. Again... you can't beat the views and access to the water to swim, fish or anchor your boat.

We LOVE camping at Moutardier, however our last visit wasn’t as pleasant. In the ladies bathhouse, one toilet was stopped up and people continued to use it and it overflowed (more than once) onto the floor...a lot of the floor. Feces on the floor. Nasty. The camp managers were notified and we were told “no one will be here until Monday.” Not acceptable!! What are people supposed to do? Other than this incident, it was a great camping trip.

The littles and I absolutely loved this campground! The rocks are covered with fencing by the water for easier access. We saw so many animals such as turtles, ducks, turkey, fish, frogs, and deer. We never saw one snake. We were right on the water and our campground views were amazing!

We really enjoyed our stay at Moutardier Campground. The arrival process was smooth, the roadway to our site was paved, and our site was mostly level and easy to back into. The electric and water service worked perfectly. There is no Wi-Fi available but we had two bars of AT&T cell service and could receive several over the air TV channels. The bathhouse was clean and gets cleaned every Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday. We had deer roaming through our campsite and the "vibe" at Moutardier was friendly and relaxed. I just finished booking another stay!
